| Description: | Recombinant PEDV (strain CV777) Spike protein is generated using a Mammalian expression system. The target gene encoding Leu19-Thr1319 is expressed with a C-terminal T4 fibritin trimerization motif, 8His tag, and Twin Strep tag. |
| Molecular Weight: | 150.6 kDa |
| Introduction: | Porcine epidemic diarrhea (PED) is an intestinal disease caused by PEDV, significantly affecting the swine industry (e.g., Mexico). First reported in Belgium in 1978, it causes severe diarrhea and vomiting with up to 100% mortality in piglets. PEDV is an enveloped positive-sense RNA virus encoding four structural proteins: Spike (S), Membrane (M), Envelope (E), and Nucleocapsid (N). The S protein comprises S1 (extracellular receptor-binding domain) and S2 regions. S1 is the primary antigenic determinant, recognizing target cell receptors and inducing neutralizing antibodies. |
