| Introduction: | Nipah virus is a bat-borne paramyxovirus and prototypic Henipavirus. First identified in Malaysia, outbreaks have subsequently occurred in Bangladesh and India. Its broad species tropism and potential to cause fatal respiratory or neurologic disease pose significant transboundary threats. The viral G glycoprotein (602 aa) is a type II membrane glycoprotein comprising a stalk and globular head. It functions primarily in receptor binding and is essential for F-mediated lipid membrane fusion. The G protein serves as an effective post-exposure treatment target against Hendra and Nipah virus infections. |
