| Introduction: | Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease caused by the monkeypox virus (MPXV), an orthopoxvirus. The A30L protein is essential for associating electron-dense granular material with crescent membrane surfaces during early viral morphogenesis. Putatively located in the matrix between the core and membrane, A30L directly interacts with G7L, with reciprocal stability dependence. A30L is thought to link the viral core to the membrane. Evidence suggests protein-protein interactions are necessary to associate dense viroplasm with IV membranes; G7L appears to be a core component, while A30L likely resides in the core-membrane matrix. |
