| Product Name: | Recombinant HSV-1 (strain 17) Envelope Glycoprotein C |
| Description: | Recombinant HSV-1 Envelope Glycoprotein C is generated using a Mammalian expression system. The target gene encoding Glu27-His457 is expressed with a C-terminal His tag. |
| Molecular Weight: | 47.2 kDa |
| Introduction: | Herpes simplex virus (HSV) anterograde transport in neuronal axons facilitates spread from latent ganglia to epithelial tissues. HSV membrane proteins gE/gI and US9 initiate this transport. Glycoprotein C (gC) functions in viral entry and immune evasion by binding complement component C3b. HSV-1 gC protects essential entry glycoproteins, such as gB, from neutralization. Additionally, gC serves as the primary ligand for binding cell surface heparan sulfate proteoglycans and is a target for CD4 T-lymphocyte cytotoxicity. |
