• Description: Recombinant HCMV (strain AD169) Envelope Glycoprotein B is produced by a Mammalian expression system. The target gene encoding Ser25-Pro706 is expressed with a C-terminal 6His tag. Mutations Y155G, I156H, Y157R, Y206H, W240A, L241T, Y242H, and RTRR456-459GSAS are introduced to stabilize the trimeric postfusion state and abolish the furin cleavage site.

• Introduction: Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is the most common virus transmitted in utero and a significant cause of disease in adults, particularly in immunosuppressed patients. Glycoprotein B (gB) is a viral envelope glycoprotein that mediates cell entry. It works in concert with the gH/gL complex to enter fibroblasts and with the PC complex to enter epithelial and endothelial cells. gB is highly conserved among herpesviruses and is essential for HCMV replication.
