• Introduction: Human adenovirus (HAdV) is a significant pathogen causing community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in children. The emerging Human adenovirus type 55 (HAdV-55) is highly virulent, causing fatal acute adenoviral pneumonia in immunocompetent adults. The HAdV capsid comprises three proteins: penton base, hexon, and fiber. Hexon, the key structural protein of the icosahedral capsid, forms a tightly packed protein shell protecting the virion's inner components. Hexon capsomeres are homotrimers containing the most abundant immunogens and are the primary antigens for inducing neutralizing antibodies.
