• Introduction: Dengue is the most common mosquito-borne viral disease, caused by the dengue virus (DENV) of the Flaviviridae family. DENV exists as four serotypes (DENV-1, 2, 3, and 4) and is endemic in over 120 tropical and subtropical countries. The nonstructural protein 1 (NS1) is a multifunctional glycoprotein involved in viral replication and immune evasion, currently recognized as a vaccine candidate. NS1 forms a dimer associated with vesicular organelle membranes and the surface of infected cells, and is secreted as a hexameric lipoprotein (sNS1). NS1 can interrupt the coagulation cascade, leading to prolonged bleeding times.
