| Introduction: | Classical swine fever (CSF), caused by the classical swine fever virus (CSFV), is a highly contagious disease causing significant economic losses in pigs and wild boar. CSFV is an enveloped, single-stranded positive-sense RNA virus. Its 12.3 kb genome encodes a single polyprotein precursor processed into mature structural and nonstructural proteins. Structural proteins include the nucleocapsid protein C and envelope glycoproteins E0 (Erns), E1, and E2. Glycoproteins exist as disulfide-bonded homo- and heterodimers. E2 is the most immunogenic protein and the primary target for neutralizing antibodies. Erns, a homodimer found in virions and secreted from infected cells, serves as a secondary target for neutralizing antibodies. |
