| Introduction: | Bovine herpesvirus type 1 (BoHV-1), belonging to the Alphaherpesvirinae subfamily, causes significant economic losses in the cattle industry globally. The envelope glycoprotein D (gD) is essential for viral entry into permissive cells and likely cooperates with other envelope glycoproteins. Herpesvirus gD induces a protective immune response against disease in cattle and animal models. Acting as a primary target of the immune response, BoHV-1 gD may elicit stronger immune responses and provide superior protective immunity against viral challenge compared to gB and gC. |
