• Introduction: African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a large icosahedral DNA virus. The p30 (30 kDa) and p54 (25 kDa) proteins are externally located structural proteins encoded by the viral genes CP204L and E183L, respectively. These proteins are involved in distinct steps of viral attachment and both contribute to antibody-mediated protective immune responses. ASFV p30 is an early phosphoprotein located in the inner viral membrane. Due to its properties, p30 is considered a prime antigen candidate for serological tests to detect ASFV-specific antibodies.
