• Introduction: Donanemab is a humanized immunoglobulin gamma 1 (IgG1) monoclonal antibody directed against insoluble N-truncated pyroglutamate amyloid beta (Aβ), which is found in the brain amyloid plaques that contribute to the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's Disease (AD). On July 2, 2024, donanemab was approved by the FDA for the treatment of AD in patients with mild cognitive impairment or dementia symptoms. It works to reduce amyloid beta plaques and impede the progression of AD.
